Charlotte county is a picturesque and unique area that is a perfect getaway and even better place to live full time! It is a waterfront county with the Peace River running through it and is also bordered on the west by the inspiring waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
On the banks of the Peace River and Charlotte Harbor, Punta Gorda is the only incorporated city of Charlotte county, Florida. The name, Punta Gorda, comes from the Spanish phrase meaning fat point. Centrally located between Sarasota to the north and Fort Myers to the south, it is a small, charming city, blessed with an abundance of waterfront parks, preserves and fishing piers. It has a unique downtown historic area with several sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Charlotte Harbor is one of the United States’ largest natural harbors where you can enjoy all water sports. If you love the slower pace of life, but with all conveniences here, or nearby, this is the place for you! Most of the homes in the city of Punta Gorda are on the water; another unique feature of the area…New or resale homes and condos are priced lower than many other coastal areas, and the median price is often the lowest in the state for coastal communities, making Punta Gorda a great investment. Port Charlotte, Deep Creek, Murdock, and other areas of Charlotte county are even more affordable! Our beaches in Englewood, Placida, Cape Haze, Boca Grande, Stump Pass, Don Pedro Island and other “islands” make this area a vacation paradise.
Charlotte county is growing all the time, bringing jobs, families and a robust economy. Although there are several colleges nearby, plans are in the works for Florida Gulf Coast University to expand in this area. Cultural events abound and Charlotte County even has its own Symphony Orchestra, along with a Performing Arts Center.
There are so many reasons to relocate here, but the main attraction is the water!
