Welcome to our lovely town of Punta Gorda...we are glad you came to visit! I hope you will stay awhile and learn about this great area and all that it has to offer..beautiful waterfront homes and condos, a vast and picturesque harbor with waterfront parks, piers, plus great beaches nearby, world class fishing, not to mention great dining and shopping nearby!
Punta Gorda was really hurt by Hurricane Charley in 2004...although you may still see some signs of the devasting damage it wrought on the town, the city is experiencing a re-birth. There is a lot of new construction under way, in commercial and residential properties...a new events center has recently been completed, a new waterfront shopping plaza is under construction, new hotels, restaurants, office, retail and loft condos have been built...many new and exciting projects abound! (Wilder Companies is also planning an open air shopping mall off Jones Loop Road)
When I decided to return to Florida, I researched for several years a lot of different areas...Punta Gorda attracted me for a variety of reasons...one being it is one of the lowest, if not the lowest median priced area of "coastal" communities in Florida. Another reason is the small town appeal-its charm and casual lifestyle...the pace is not as hectic and congested as so many other coastal areas. Of course, a third reason is the water...I love the water! Being surrounded by water is attractive to me not only as a Realtor, but as a homeowner! Lastly, I see the potential for economic, social and cultural growth in the community; with new projects starting every day, I believe they will affect us in a positive and prosperous way.
A lot has been written about the slowdown in the real estate market, but it won't last for long...they aren't making any more land, and with my office located downtown, I meet many, many people who continue to have the dream of owning a place on the water or by the sea...It's a great time to purchase a home or condo, and Punta Gorda is a terrific area to make that purchase!
